Iolite also known as dichroite and "water sapphire", is the gem-grade version of the silicate mineral, Cordierite. It is a stone that sometimes exhibits 'pleochroism' qualities, meaning it can appear to exhibit more than one color. It occurs mostly in high grade, thermally metamorphic rocks. Iolite is known as a stone of vision, in that it helps with awareness and communication, and facilitates intuition and visualization.
