Peridot is a yellow-green gem-grade variety of the mineral Olivine. It can be found in lava, meteorites (Pallasite), and deep in Earth's mantle. Ancient Egyptians called it gem of the sun, and wore it on their arms to ward off evil. August's birthstone gets its depth of color from iron and forms in tabular crystals with wedge-shaped terminations. Healing Properties: joy, rebirth, and forgiveness.
