Sculptural clay-red piece with pools of gray blue. This twisted polished "flame" is as groovy as they come. Weighing over 6 lbs with a narrow base, it would be the perfect dramatic centerpiece for a shelf or mantle.
Polychrome Jasper is a silicate mineral that gets its many colors from the presence of iron in its microgranular quartz structure, including shades of red, yellow, green, blue, gray, and brown. Jasper is often uniquely mottled, spotted, ringed, or striped.
Also called Royal Savannah or Desert Jasper, Polychrome reflects all the warm, sandy colors of the desert. Found in 2006. Archaeologists have discovered jasper jewelry, vases, urns, seals, sculptures, and tools dating as early as 6000 BC. It is believed that the red stone in the Israelites’ High Priest’s Breastplate was jasper.
