This Megalodon shark tooth is black because it absorbed color from minerals during fossilization. Set in sterling silver with a clean bezel, open back, and sturdy cutout bail, this dramatic pendant embodies all the strength and power of the prehistoric sea monster itself.
The Megalodon, named for its giant teeth, was a giant shark that lived 23 to 3.6 million years ago in the Early Miocene to the Pliocene Era. These creatures grew up to 60 feet long and had a bite more powerful than that of a Tyrannosaurus Rex! They are the largest sharks, and possibly one of the biggest fish, to ever swim in the sea and have a close relation the the Giant White Sharks of today.
