Glittering mountain range. This chunky specimen has a dark matrix covered with several large clear pyramidal Apophyllite points and one large cubic crystal, wedged between tiny terminations pointing in every direction. Scaly peach Stilbite protrusions sparkle with the finest druzy crystals. The back/bottom is smooth, and the specimen can stand up two different ways, each displaying the details nicely without a stand.*
Apophyllite is a silicate mineral that can be colorless, green, pink, reddish, or yellow and is found in prismatic, tabular, or blocky crystals in volcanic rock alongside zeolite minerals (mordenite, heulandite, scolecite, stilbite).
*Specimen still has a bit of dirt it! We think it gives it that "fresh" look, but it can be easily brushed away with soft toothbrush.
